November 2010 - Peter McCue Lecture

Time: 7.30-11.30pm
Price: £4.00 members, £5.00 non-members

Dr Peter McCue, a former clinical psychologist, has a longstanding interest in psychical research and ufology. He’s a cautious believer in the reality of paranormal phenomena (including anomalous UFO events), and he’s currently seeking a suitable publisher for a book he’s written about alleged paranormal and UFO hot spots in this country and abroad. Peter lives in Scotland, not far from the southern Highlands. He enjoys hill-walking, and he used to be a regular but lacklustre skydiver.

Peter will talk about parts of Britain that may be, or may have once been, hot spots for strange manifestations (UFO sightings, ghostly encounters, poltergeist phenomena, etc). He’ll be mentioning areas such as Blue Bell Hill (Kent), Cannock Chase (Staffs), Dartmoor (Devon), the Pennines, and locations in the Scottish Highlands. He’ll consider problems in evaluating whether these areas are, or were, genuine hot spots, and he’ll discuss theories about the phenomena.

Bonnybridge - Former UFO hot spot?

Cannock Chase - Setting of UFO sightings and paranormal experiences?

Ben Macdui - Site of ghostly encounters?

Loch Ashie - A place of apparitional experiences?
