CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND - THE TRUE STORY

To finish up 2014 we showed Spielberg's classic movie Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. This month we will be watching a documentary all about the real cases which inspired his masterpiece. Hear the true story behind the movie and learn about how Spielberg incorporated these cases into the film.

As the documentary is relatively short we will also have plenty of time this month for a proper decent chat about all things UFO, something which some of you have specifically requested! As usual Dave will provide the latest ufological news and an overview of recent investigations.

Documentary Synopsis:

Close Encounters of the Third Kind – The True Story investigates the original cases that inspired the film- from the Michigan UFO chase to the first and arguably most famous case of alien abduction in the US- the Betty and Barney Hill abduction. Using the latest scientific techniques we put Hynek’s swamp gas theory to the test and explore the psychology behind alien abduction. With contributions from leading experts in theoretical physics, astronomy and nuclear science, we explore the films central themes of interstellar travel, communication, the probability of alien life and just what real world protocols are in place for establishing first contact with an extra-terrestrial civilization.
