16th June 2018 - Henley-In-Arden Sky Watch

Henley-In-Arden is a picturesque town in Warwickshire, England. The town is surrounded by some gradually sloping grass-covered hills which have a nice clear view of the sky, making it an ideal location for a sky watch. We've never held a watch here before so felt it was time to sort one out!

We will initially be meeting at The Nags Head, 161 High Street, B95 5BA at 8.30pm, a nice little pub with its own off road car park.

At around 9.30pm we will then drive a short distance to the sky watch location - a hill to the East of the town accessible via public footpath from the end of Beaudesert Lane. There are parking spaces along the lane which we can utilise. We will then head up the slope and find a suitable location at the summit.

As with most of our sky watches, we aim to stay there till the early hours of the morning (weather permitting). You are free to leave earlier if you need to. Dave will be bringing along some disposable BBQs so feel free to bring along some food to cook. Other snacks and drinks are also greatly encouraged!

Despite the fact it is the start of the summer months, it can still get quite chilly after dark so it is recommended you bring with you some warm and waterproof clothing. You may also wish to bring along camping chairs / picnic rugs to sit on. As we will be relatively close to the town, fireworks and bonfires are not permitted.

Please spread the word about the sky watch, anyone is welcome to attend not just BUFOG members. Children and animals most welcome. We hope to see you there!
